About Chris Snead

Chris is a proud mother and an awesome grandmother! She has worked for the City of Hampton for 34 years starting as a clerk typist and retiring as budget director. She has been a dedicated and forward-thinking member of the Hampton City Council since 2012. Chris knows that experience matters in leading and building Hampton’s future!

CAMPAIGN PLATFORM

As I seek re-election, my platform has evolved from moving Hampton forward to building Hampton’s future. I believe our collective future depends on three things: purpose, progress, and prosperity. I am proposing an agenda that focuses on housing, economic development, people, water resources, and public safety as follows:

Increasing access to safe, affordable, quality, and diverse housing options by improving neighborhood conditions and amenities

Investing in opportunities that yield new revenue, a thriving and diverse local economy, stable and high-quality jobs, and shared prosperity

Collaborating with public and private partners to expand resources and supportive networks that reduce poverty, improve learning and earning potential, and strengthen and stabilize working families while preparing them for higher opportunities in housing, education, employment, savings, etc.

Embracing water as an economic growth and quality of life asset, while developing the infrastructure to better respond to sea-level rise, flooding, storm water management and related issues

Enhancing relationships, proactive strategies, training, response times, and other activities that keep Hampton safe from crime, weather events, and other occurrences that threaten the well-being of the public
